Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how YTT Weather collects, uses, stores, discloses, and otherwise processes personal data across the web app, progressive web app, iOS app, Android app, and related services. It is written to cover current features and foreseeable optional, version-dependent, or later-enabled features such as analytics, diagnostics, experiments, support tooling, account features, payments, and background location capabilities.

Last updated: April 12, 2026 Applies to: Web, PWA, iOS, Android App: YTT Weather

1. Who we are

YTT Weather is operated by Logic Edge SL, referred to in this policy as YTT Weather, we, our, or us. Our privacy and legal contact email is [email protected].

If we are required to appoint a data protection officer, EU representative, UK representative, or similar local contact, we will identify that person or entity in an updated version of this policy or another legally valid notice.

2. Scope

This policy applies to your use of the YTT Weather application and related websites, landing pages, mobile distributions, communications, support interactions, and legal or operational processes linked to the service.

It does not apply to third-party services that have their own privacy notices, including app stores, device platforms, internet providers, or independent websites linked from the service. Those parties may process data under their own terms and notices.

3. Personal data we collect

Depending on your device, settings, jurisdiction, and the features enabled in a given build, we may collect or process the following categories of data:

Location and place data

Precise GPS or device-derived coordinates, approximate or IP-based location, location search queries, selected places, reverse-geocoded place names, time zone, saved locations, favorites, and location history relevant to yesterday, today, and tomorrow comparisons.

Weather request data

Coordinates, request timestamps, selected comparison slots, dates, language, time zone, forecast windows, and related request metadata needed to obtain and present weather information.

Device, network, and technical data

IP address, browser or webview details, operating system, app version, locale, device capabilities, permission state, connection state, referrer data, and similar technical details.

Product usage and diagnostics

App launches, sessions, page or screen views, taps, clicks, scrolling, gesture interactions, feature usage, performance metrics, logs, crash data, diagnostics, experiment assignments, and related telemetry if analytics or observability tools are enabled.

Preferences and stored content

Units, language, selected navigation mode, saved places, on-device weather caches, service worker caches, app settings, and local history necessary to keep the app usable and responsive.

Support, payment, and account data

If you contact us or if later versions introduce accounts, subscriptions, payments, or customer support, we may collect your messages, identifiers, billing metadata, purchase history, or other information needed to provide those features.

4. Sources of data

We may obtain data directly and indirectly from several sources, including:

  • Directly from you when you search locations, enable permissions, or contact us.
  • From your browser, device, OS, app store, or webview when they expose permission, locale, network, crash, or technical information.
  • From third-party weather and location providers, including Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud, when the app requests forecasts, geocoding, reverse geocoding, or approximate location information.
  • From hosting, content delivery, analytics, diagnostics, attribution, support, communications, payment, or fraud-prevention vendors if or when those vendors are enabled.
  • From public or legal sources if necessary for compliance, enforcement, or protection of rights.

5. How we use data

We may use personal data to:

  • Provide, operate, personalize, maintain, and improve the service, including comparing weather across saved or detected locations.
  • Request forecasts, search locations, reverse-geocode coordinates, and show accurate weather details for your current or selected place.
  • Cache data and assets for speed, offline resilience, continuity, debugging, and recovery.
  • Detect, prevent, investigate, and address errors, abuse, fraud, misuse, security incidents, outages, policy violations, and legal claims.
  • Measure adoption, diagnose issues, run analytics, monitor performance, test features, and evaluate experiments if or when those tools are enabled.
  • Communicate with you about support matters, product changes, legal notices, account issues, transactions, or updates.
  • Comply with law, court orders, lawful requests, contractual obligations, tax and accounting rules, export controls, and other legal requirements.
  • Protect the rights, safety, and property of users, the public, our partners, and our business.

6. Location data

Location information is central to YTT Weather. If you grant permission, we may use precise geolocation from your browser, device, or mobile operating system to show weather for your current place and to keep selected locations relevant as you move.

  • If precise location is not available, is denied, or is not requested, we may use approximate location derived from your IP address or a previously known place.
  • We may send coordinates or location-related inputs to weather and geocoding providers so they can return place names, time zones, and weather information.
  • Some platform versions, operating systems, or future feature sets may request or use background location where allowed by your permissions and device settings. If enabled, that may be used to keep forecasts, comparisons, alerts, or travel-related place transitions accurate while the app is not actively in the foreground.
  • Precise geolocation may be treated as sensitive personal information under some laws. We use it primarily to deliver requested app functionality, preserve service integrity, perform short-term transient processing, prevent abuse, and satisfy other lawful purposes described in this policy.
  • You can usually disable or limit location access through browser or OS settings, but some features may work less accurately or stop functioning.

7. Metrics, diagnostics, and experimentation

To keep the app stable and useful, we may collect or later enable collection of product-interaction data, diagnostics, crash logs, performance measurements, network and error logs, install and update events, attribution data, and experiment assignments.

That data may include screen views, taps, clicks, scrolling, feature adoption, retention, session length, device identifiers, coarse location, app version, locale, network status, stack traces, timing metrics, and other operational signals.

As of the effective date of this page, this codebase does not show third-party advertising SDKs or cross-context behavioral advertising tools. If analytics, attribution, advertising, or monitoring practices materially change, we may update this policy and provide any notice or choice required by law.

8. Cookies, local storage, and on-device caches

YTT Weather uses on-device storage to keep the app fast and functional. This may include browser local storage, application storage, and service worker caches.

  • The current app stores some settings and location-related state in localStorage.
  • The current progressive web app configuration may cache weather forecasts for up to about 6 hours, location search results for up to about 7 days, reverse-geocoding responses for up to about 24 hours, and 3D weather model assets for up to about 30 days, subject to browser behavior and cache cleanup.
  • Preferences may remain on your device until you clear app storage, clear browser storage, reinstall the app, or use an OS/browser setting that removes app data.
  • If future versions introduce non-essential cookies, advertising technologies, or consent-gated analytics, we may add a separate consent mechanism where legally required.

10. How we disclose data

We may disclose personal data to the following categories of recipients:

  • Weather and geolocation providers. Current code paths use Open-Meteo for forecasts and geocoding and BigDataCloud for reverse geocoding and approximate location flows.
  • Infrastructure and operational vendors. Hosting, CDN, DNS, storage, logging, observability, support, communications, analytics, attribution, fraud, testing, or payment providers if or when used.
  • App stores, platform operators, and browser vendors. Apple, Google, and similar platform providers may independently process data under their own notices.
  • Professional advisors and counterparties. Lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers, investors, and transaction counterparties where reasonably necessary.
  • Authorities and legal process. Courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other parties if we believe disclosure is required or appropriate by law.
  • Business transfers. Buyers, sellers, financiers, or successors in connection with an investment, financing, merger, acquisition, restructuring, asset sale, or bankruptcy process.
  • With your direction or consent. For example, if you ask us to share information with another party.

We may also use or disclose deidentified, aggregated, or anonymized information if it no longer reasonably identifies you and applicable law allows it.

11. International transfers

The service may be hosted, supported, or delivered through providers in multiple countries. As a result, your data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions outside your home country, including places that may not provide the same legal level of protection.

When required, we may rely on contractual safeguards, adequacy decisions, your consent, necessity for contract performance, or other lawful transfer mechanisms. You can request more information using the contact details below.

12. Retention

We keep data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

  • Under the current app logic, some on-device location history and related selection state is pruned to roughly 15 days.
  • Preferences, cached assets, and local storage may remain until you clear storage, uninstall the app, or the relevant cache expires or is replaced.
  • Weather and geocoding providers may keep request logs, security logs, and operational records under their own retention schedules.
  • Support, compliance, dispute, fraud, and transaction data may be retained longer if necessary to document actions, resolve issues, enforce rights, or comply with law.

13. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port certain personal data, and to withdraw consent where we rely on consent.

  • You can control many permissions directly through your browser, device, OS, or app settings, including location permissions and local storage clearing.
  • You may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection by contacting [email protected].
  • We may ask for information to verify your identity and authority before acting on a request.
  • If we deny a request, we may explain the reason if the law requires us to do so.
  • If you are in the EEA, UK, or another place with similar rights, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

14. California and U.S. state notice

If U.S. state privacy laws apply to us, we may have collected in the preceding 12 months categories such as identifiers, device and internet activity information, geolocation data, diagnostics, inferences, support records, and commercial information if purchase or subscription features are enabled.

  • We may collect precise geolocation, which may qualify as sensitive personal information or sensitive data.
  • We use sensitive data mainly to provide requested functionality, maintain security, debug and repair, provide short-term transient services, comply with law, and for other purposes allowed by applicable law.
  • As of the effective date of this page, we have not identified selling personal information or sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in this codebase. If that changes, we may update this notice and provide required opt-out tools, including recognition of legally required browser preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control where applicable.
  • Depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, port, opt out, limit certain sensitive-data uses, appeal a denial, or use an authorized agent.

15. Children

YTT Weather is a general-audience weather application. It is not specifically directed to children or teens as a target audience, even though the service may be generally safe to use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner that would require parental consent under applicable law, including COPPA where relevant. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child in a way that violates applicable law, we may delete it and take related remedial action.

If the service is ever directed to children or collects age information that creates actual knowledge of a child user, we may implement the notice and consent steps required by applicable law.

16. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, uninterrupted availability, or that unauthorized access will never occur.

17. Third-party services

The app may rely on third-party services and infrastructure. Their processing may be governed by their own privacy notices and contractual terms. Examples currently visible in this codebase include Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud. Future versions may also use app stores, cloud providers, diagnostics tools, analytics platforms, customer support systems, payment processors, attribution providers, or communications vendors.

18. Changes to this policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we may update the date above and may also provide additional notice through the app, website, store listing, or another legally appropriate channel. Your continued use of the service after an updated policy becomes effective is subject to applicable law.

19. Contact information

Privacy requests, complaints, and questions should be sent to [email protected].
